Foreign stars not to blame for Rangers failings says Dorrans

Graham Dorrans has dismissed the notion that the multi-national make-up of Rangers is a contributory factor to their under-
achievement in the most meaningful matches of the season.

However, as the Ibrox side seek victory over Kilmarnock tonight to maintain their Premiership challenge, he admits he can not explain why they have failed when it matters, most recently in Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi-final defeat by Motherwell.

Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam said on social media that his old club needs more British players but Dorrans does not agree. He said: “It is difficult to come and play for this club. It is a massive club but everyone in our dressing room knows the standards needed to play for this club. Unfortunately, on Sunday we didn’t reach those standards and that is why we paid the price.

“We just need players who can go out and win games. Whether they are from 
Portugal, Columbia, 
Brazil, anywhere in the world, doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if they’re 
British. We need winners.

“I think there is a bit much made of the notion that Scots know Rangers better. The foreign boys who have come over know this club is renowned worldwide.

“You don’t just hear about Rangers when you’re about to sign. Everyone knows about this football club. People who come here from all over the world know what it means to play here.”
