DORIN Goian has promised that he will return to Rangers once his loan spell in Italy is over, and believes the Ibrox club will be back in the SPL by then.

• Romanian claims Rangers will be fast-tracked back to SPL

The Romania defender became the latest first-team regular to head for the Ibrox exit door last week when he sealed a move to Italian Serie B side Spezia.

Goian told the Daily Record newspaper: “In 10 months I’ll be back to Glasgow. I am in Italy for one year for a loan and that’s it.

“When it’s over I’ll have my contract with Rangers again and I hope something is going to change and I’ll get the chance to play in the SPL again with Rangers.

“I think it will happen because I heard before I left many teams will have problems with money this year without Rangers. The TV money is down so there is good reason to make it so Rangers can come back quickly.”

The 31-year-old was left out of his national team squad for a recent friendly with Slovenia and added: “I was happy to stay, no matter the division which Rangers were playing. I had an offer from a club in Turkey but I wasn’t looking to go anywhere.

“However, things with the national team then became clear and made up my mind for me. The national team and my country is very important, it means everything to me and it is the biggest thing a player can have.

“This is a World Cup year and I want to have the opportunity to be involved with the squad as we try to make it to the finals in 2014 in Brazil.”
