The Seagulls may face competition for Law from Birmingham and Reading, and seven other unnamed clubs.

The former Motherwell midfielder could leave Ibrox for around £500,000 and was the subject of interest from Bolton and Huddersfield in the last transfer window.

Law bagged a brace in Rangers’ 4-0 victory over Raith Rovers on Sunday, taking his tally to 12 for the season as Stuart McCall bids to guide Rangers to the Premiership via the play-offs.

The former Bradford boss is reportedly keen on keeping Law at Ibrox but that could change if McCall is not handed a longer deal as Rangers manager.

Up to 12 players are out of contract at Ibrox in the summer, with midfielder Ian Black a target for Wigan.

And striker Kenny Miller, in his third stint with the club, told the Daily Mail: “I have put talks about contracts and the likes on hold because it’s more important we get back to where we belong – which is the Premiership.

“I’m not really worried or thinking about it too much because a big part of it will come down to whether or not we are successful.

“After that, if we’ve done that, then there is probably a better chance of people getting contracts.’
