The Scottish Premiership transfer window closed at 11pm on Monday night, with Celtic, Rangers, and Hibs all strengthening their squads in the final hours with some big signings.
Despite the window being slammed shut, transfers are still being discussed with Celtic manager Martin O’Neill admitting he has held discussions with former Arsenal and Liverpool playmaker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over a free transfer move following his release from Besiktas earlier in the season. But which other big-name players are available as free agents?
Players not currently under contract with any club are currently able to be signed and registered outside of the standard transfer windows, meaning Scottish Premiership clubs may still look to do further business in the weeks ahead.
Here, The Scotsman looks at 20 of the best free agents still able to sign for clubs, including a former Liverpool cult-hero, World Cup winner, and 68-goal English Premier League striker.

17. Paco Alcacer
Known for his ability to find the net, the Spanish striker has scored over 100 top-flight goals for clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Barcelona, and Villarreal, and has won titles such as La Liga and the UEFA Europa League. Only 32, he is currently available for free after spending the last few seasons in the United Arab Emirates. | Getty Images

18. Daniel Amartey
Part of Leicester City's remarkable 2015/16 title win, the Ghanaian has been without a club since leaving Besiktas almost 18 months ago. The defensive midfielder cost £6million when he joined the Foxes from Copenhagen, but is now one of Europe's forgotten men. Just 31 years old, are his playing days over, or will a club look to try and resurrect his career? | Getty Images

19. James Rodriguez
The Colombian legend has been loosely linked with a move to the MLS, but remains available as a free agent following his departure from Mexican side Leon in December. A two time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, the 34-year-old won the FIFA Golden Boot at the World Cup in 2014, and even has a new species of coral named after him - the 'Paragorgia jamesi' if you're wondering. Hugely unlikely to ever ply his trade in the Scottish top flight, but available for free nonetheless. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

20. Sergio Ramos
There are few players more decorated than the legendary Spanish defender. He's approaching his 40th birthday, but has still been playing a high level since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023, turning out for the likes of Sevilla and Monterrey. Departing Mexico in December, the iconic former Real Madrid captain is currently a free agent. Highly unlikely we'd ever see him in the Scottish Premiership, but it would be extremely fun if he did. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
