The fiery Colombian has long-been at the centre of transfer speculation in Glasgow, with protracted rumours heavily linking him with a move away from the Gers over the summer.

Despite that talk, the 24-year-old stayed put in the most recent window, and has established himself as a key presence again this term after a slow start to 2020.

Morelos played 79 minutes of Rangers’ dramatic 3-2 win over Standard Liege in the Europa League on Thursday evening, and speaking to talkSPORT’s Jim White on Friday morning, Roofe insisted that his teammate is fully focused on bringing success to the blue half of Glasgow.

Asking about the South American, White said: “Tell us about Alfredo Morelos. So much is said and written about this fella – what kind of guy is he, Kemar? What kind of relationship have you got with him?”

Roofe responded: "He loves football. He does love football. In the training ground he’s full of beans, giving it 100%, he’s full of energy. He tries his best and he’s a fighter, and these are the sorts of players we need playing for Rangers in our team.”

White pressed on: “And like yourself, is he 100% committed to the cause?”

“Yeah, of course he is, otherwise he wouldn’t be playing”, Roofe replied.

"If he wasn’t I’m sure the gaffer wouldn’t have him, and the players wouldn’t have him as well. None of us can single him out at all.”

Morelos has hit seven goals in 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
