The Perth side’s goalkeeper headed the ball in off striker Chris Kane and then saved penalties from James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe to deny Rangers a Hampden date.

@Buddie232: “Didn’t turn up today and really can’t complain at going out. St Johnstone wanted it more. Season over now.”

Natalie Sloan: “We can’t win them all, St Johnstone played well. McGregor can’t save us every time, although I would like that Clark in our team he’s well up for it!

Lar Ray: “Got what we deserved, simple..... St Johnstone were excellent and performed as a team. Yet we still could have won, but pedestrian in possession and out hustled. But to leave a six-foot plus player dressed from head to toe in a different colour from every other on the pitch in your six-yard box is criminal.

“Was all about the 55 and rightly so....but tonight shows no room for sentiment and the squad must evolve for next season. Lets stay unbeaten and enjoy the 55.”

@NOTELINYI: “Was the defence having a break when the keeper scored?”

Jim Mcleod: “Frustrating that we can’t seem to see games out when we’re ahead toward the end the match.”

@el_buffalo2020: “Here is the match report...Rangers crash out of ANOTHER domestic cup. Pathetic.”

@reeking2265: “Unacceptable. Winning the title is fantastic but the drop in form since then has been unacceptable.”

@marting46634959: “Should’ve kept Alfredo on all game. Wouldn’t have brought Roofe on, maybe Defoe.”

Bobby Shanks: “Scott Wright should have started. He's looked good every game. I hate penalties.”
