Rangers were comfortable winners to take the last place in the quarter final line-up for the 2020-21 Betfred Cup with first half strikes from Jermain Defoe, Calvin Bassey and Borna Barisic.

Those had Steven Gerrard’s side ahead at the interval against the Bairns who performed well but rarely threatened a slick visiting side – still powerful despite seven changes from the Europa League draw with Benfica.

After the break, a volleyed stunner from James Tavernier – supplied by his partner in crime Borna Barisic on the opposite flank – gave Rangers enough comfort to begin ringing the changes.

Several youngsters were given a taste of first team action and many made the most of their chance in a comfortable win that takes Rangers into a quarter final with ___ next month.
