Steven Gerrard made four changes to the team which beat Galatasaray on Thursday night, Jones being drafted back in after a great performance at Motherwell last week, and restoring Jon McLaughlin to the team after three games in a row for Allan McGregor.

Leon Balogun and Ryan Jack have both made recent substitute appearances on their return from injury and were given a start each before the international break.

The Rangers fans were expectant after seeing the strong line-up.

@andyconnelly316: “Good to see McLaughlin back between the sticks and Jones gets a run from the start. C’mon Rangers.”

@TenementLight: “Thought Jones and Jack would start. Shocked to see McGregor out though. Great to see big Balogun back in from the start.”

@RangersBanter17: “Good to see Davis get a rest and Jones deserves a chance after last week.”

@EveryOtherSatu1: “Never saw McLaughlin coming in today aswell as Balogun but i’m not fazed by it at all, Davis also getting a rest will be good to see how these three play in the middle as Jack and Kamara never usually work but we will see, i’m going 4-0 Rangers.”

@CemetryGates89: “Pretty much as expected, other than McGregor dropping to the bench. Wonder if Itten's injury has resurfaced?”

@nathanj3001: “No Itten, Aribo or Roofe and look how strong our XI and bench is.”

@DSutherland97: “Strength in depth we have this season is brilliant imo. Add another one in the midfield if possible and we will be hard to beat.”

@WATPDUNC: “A few changes but still a very strong team can’t see there being any problem I’m going 6-0.”

@StuartWelsh4: “Do not get why we are playing both Jack and Kamara unless GK plays further forward hope do three points don’t care about the score.”

@NathDC94: “Nice to see Jordan Jones starting, hopefully has a good game to make Gerrard’s job for team selections harder. Good to see Barker back on the bench. Happy days, get the three points lads please.”
