An own goal from Calum McGregor after Nir Bitton was sent off gave Steven Gerrard’s team a 1-0 win at Ibrox and extended their lead at the top of the table to 19 points.

Celtic still have three games in hand, but Wilson, who played more than 100 times for the Hoops in six and a half years at Parkhead conceded: “I think even the most fervent Celtic fans will look at that and think that’s the last chance.

"I thought Celtic had to win the game to start chipping away at Rangers’ lead, but Rangers have extended it, Alex [Rae] has pointed out the goal difference too.
