Defender Filip Helander will be out of Rangers action for a fortnight at least after returning a positive covid-19 test.

The defender missed this evening’s Betfred Cup match against Falkirk who had experienced their own COVID-19 disruption pre-match.

Rangers were already without Nathan Patterson from the defence, forced to self-isolate after a virus outbreak on Scotland under-21 duty. Calvin Bassey deputised at centre-back beside Conor Goldson in Steven Gerrard’s side.

Falkirk captain Gary Miller and goalkeeper Robbie Mutch were both missing for the Bairns’ first team squad.
