Steven Gerrard’s line-up in Dingwall was welcomed by Rangers fans eager to see their side extend the lead at the top of the table to 14 points – if only for a few hours.

The manager made a few tweaks to the starting side against Ross County, with Scott Arfield and Borna Barisic dropping to the bench and Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo reprising their first-team roles.

Mark Mckean: “Offt that’s a team I’m loving Bassey glad he gets a start, looks a great player.”

Davy Smith: “What a bench...anyone of them could start...this is going to be a big challenge against a physical team.”

@RoryTopping: “I really don’t think arfield deserves to be dropped.”

@coach_d_maxwell: “Thought Davis might have been rested for midweek. Would have been nice to see Zungu there.”

@Renegade_uk100: “I’d have rested Kent and morelos for Hagi and Defoe. But hopefully we are two or three up and can sub them early.”

@garycawnew: “About time Alfie starts scoring surely today if no then time to play Itten we paid about £3m for him.”

Ian Greig: “Sign of intent from Gerrard today by not resting any players. Comments about Morelos seem crazy his work rate this season outside the box have helped the team.”

David Paterson: “We have a core of about 20 players being rotated. Anyone outwith that circle can be sold or loaned out. Carrying too many that just don't make the grade.”

@JudeMcilreavy won’t have been alone when he tweeted an anguished emoji alongside the message: “No Barisic for fantasy team.” The left-back has been a regular point scorer for players of the fantasy games.
