Rangers fans praised many of their players after seeing out 2020 with a win in Paisley.

Filip Helander, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara and Borna Barisic all impressed – but it was Alfredo Morelos’ return to the scoresheet that had most smiling.

But after seeing off St Mirren attention quickly turned to Saturday’s Old Firm opener to 2021.

@eightyonepower1: “A clean sheet and goal for Morelos is what was needed going into Saturday, I will take that over a big scoreline.”

Thomas McEwan: “Chuffed for Alfredo to get that little bit of luck and get the goal hopefully gives him something to build on again.”

@RS1872: “Helander was outstanding bettering the strength of Obika all day, Hagi and Roofe once again game changers and Davis and Kamara well they two run Scottish football. Amazing Rangers now on to Saturday!”

@CF3Loyal: “A solid routine win. Helander rightly RTV man of the match, the big Swede was excellent at the back. I rate Balogun but our best CB pairing is Goldson and Helander, which I’d like to see on Saturday despite the option to use Balogun’s pace.”

Jennifer Peace: “Kamara and Aribo put in good shifts today. Glad we saw out another clean sheet, special mention to Borna for his defensive work too.”

Antony Wright: “Great three points but need to get that intensity back into our game, hunting in threes and fours, winning the ball and breaking forward quicker. Davis and Kamara although great on the ball can be far too negative with their passes. Gonna miss Arfield or Jack in that midfield for Saturday!”

@George_2809: “Not the best performance, but it’s what champions do in these games, not confident we would’ve got the job done a few years ago. Shows the improvement from the team. On to a pivotal game in our season.”

@GavinWilson72: “Job done. Win on Saturday and they can start putting they red white n blue ribbons on that trophy.”

John Gilchrist: “Three points in the bag, onwards to Saturday, win on Saturday we have one hand on the title, don’t let anyone tell you any different.”

And as well as the Old Firm match, some were pleased to right the record in Paisley after the Betfred Cup elimination earlier this month.

@A96oaye_1: “Revenge tastes sweet, but three points are even sweeter!”
