It was a lacklustre display from the hosts but Rangers were on good form without needing to really hit top gear to take the spoils.
A goal in either half from the impressive former Brighton defender gave Steven Gerrard’s side the win, while Allan McGregor was hardly troubled in the visiting net save for a late panic when Leigh Griffiths got around him.
The match dictated who would finish the first quarter of the season top of the SPFL Premiership table, and although Celtic still have a game in hand Rangers are four points clear at the summit.
Moi Elyounoussi had a chance for Celtic shortly after Goldson had headed James Tavernier’s free-kick past Vasilis Barkas in the ninth minute. The goalkeeper was beaten again by Goldson from close range after Shane Duffy initially blocked the defender’s strike.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has warned his players they cannot continue to live off past glories, in his post-match analysis and admitted his side lacked a ‘spark’. Steven Gerrard also played it calm, insisting Rangers would not get ahead of themselves after such a comfortable victory at the home of their fierce rivals and current league champions.

5. James Tavernier - 7
Supplied the opener and typically energetic and used the width of the pitch to good effect. Perhaps not as influential on the game as he had been pre-international break but you can bet his influence on Rangers team isn't under-estimated

6. Glen Kamara - 7
Nice and tidy and the reduced tempo of the game with no fans actually suited the Finnish midfielder who kept things ticking and helped shore up the win when dropping deeper with Jack on in the second half. In the first drifted left to support Barisic to good effect

7. Steven Davis - 8
Made the visitors tick in the middle defying his years and his recent match-minutes with a display central to Rangers' victory. Popped up everywhere to take a pass or make an interception.

8. Scott Arfield - 7
Another whose energy levels rarely falter, Arfield laid on the second and was in the cut and thrust of midfield allowing Davis and Kamara to do their work. Continues to link-up well with an understanding with Morelos for the give and go moves.
