Some 23 years since Ally McCoist netted his last goal in continental competition, Colombian Morelos matched the 21-goal tally with a header against Lech Poznan in last week’s Europa League group stage match at Ibrox.
McCoist is still the all-time leading Scottish-based goalscorer in European competition but a goal against Benfica, Standard Liege or another against Poznan – or even beyond further in the competition, could give Morelos the top spot.
Here we look back at how ‘El Bufalo’ achieved each of his 21 European goals – the first against NK Osijek in July 2018 through to last week’s super-sub appearance against Lech via Feyenoord, Legia Warsaw and Porto.
Will more images be added over the coming season or will two of Rangers fans’ much-loved strikers continue to share top spot in the Ibrox record books?
