Unlike the last time these two sides met in the last four of the League Cup last season, this Scottish Cup semi-final clash is a lot harder to call. Celtic are the deserved favourites, leaders of the top flight as they are, but Rangers represent a tricky opponent. Mark Warburton has completely rebuilt the squad and they are high on confidence having secured the Ladbrokes Championship and Petrofac Training Cup within the past two weeks.

What Rangers are saying: “We definitely believe we can do it. Just because you are in a lower division doesn’t mean you can’t beat the teams in the higher league. We’ve already done it this season and so have Hibs, so that difference in division doesn’t really mean anything on the day.” (Rangers winger Barrie McKay)

What Celtic are saying: “I don’t think you can treat it like any other game because it’s not. It’s a big tie, a chance to get to the final. It’s Celtic against Rangers. I think it will be a good game with lots of chances. They like to score goals and so do we, so I’m sure it will be a good one to watch.” (Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong)
