Rangers takeover: Ronald De Boer says that SPL ‘will not survive’

Former Rangers player and Netherlands international Ronald de Boer has warned the Scottish Premier League that it could face ruin without Rangers.

Speaking to Talksport, he said: “The SPL can’t survive without Rangers. If you’re playing an away game against Kilmarnock, 60-70 per cent of the ground is filled with Rangers supporters. Those small clubs need the revenue. It’s a terrible scenario they’re facing. It’s like Real Madrid or Barcelona being in that situation. If you go to Dubai or Qatar, everybody knows Rangers. They draw in such a wide audience, almost like no other club in the world. I can’t imagine them not playing in the SPL.”
