Former Rangers stopper Andy Goram believes the club should show a statement of intent this summer by making a move for long-standing Chelsea and England centre back John Terry.

Goram tweeted these thoughts out to his 41,000 Twitter followers in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Terry is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, though a move to the Scottish Championship champions-elect looks unlikely.

The 35-year-old is on a reported £150,000 a week at Chelsea. Though this figure will likely fall when he signs a new deal elsewhere this summer, burgeoning football leagues MLS and the Chinese Super League have the kind of financial clout to offer the player a satisfactory deal.

Also, while signing such a name would certainly cause a stir and get an extra few season tickets shifted, it’s difficult to see where a veteran centre back with a lack of pace and an uncompromising style would fit into Mark Warburton’s build-it-from-the-back, high-pressing, patient-passing system.
