The 28-year-old was a target for Mark Warburton but Brentford accepted a bid from Leeds for the Paris-born midfielder and the 28-year-old and his representatives held talks with the Elland Road side this morning.

Diagouraga, who has made more than 20 appearances for Brentford in the Championship this season had expressed an interest in teaming up with former boss Warburton but the Bees threw out an initial bid from Rangers.

Diagouraga started his career with Paris Saint-Germain, before joining Watford’s youth set-up in 2003.

Diagouraga left the Hornets in 2007 after a series of loan spells at Swindon, Rotherham and Hereford, signing permanently with Hereford before moving to Peterborough in 2009.

He joined the Bees on a permanent basis in 2010 after a successful loan spell.

Brentford loaned the player to Portsmouth in 2014 but he has now established himself as a key member of the Griffin Park side’s starting XI.
