The club were initially in the game following their liquidation in 2012 - they could be found in a rest of the world pool of teams - but were omitted from last year’s game.

Now that they’re back in the Scottish Premiership, it means a return to FIFA 17.

But a picture has emerged from the game showing the Rangers players in a pre-match huddle, something synonymous with arch-rivals Celtic.

The screenshot from the game was uploaded on Twitter yesterday by a parody account with the caption: “FIFA 17 - Four long years I’ve waited to play as the mighty Glasgow Rangers 1872 in FIFA then they do this?!”

The picture shows the Light Blues huddled round on the pitch just as Celtic do when captain, Scott Brown, gives a rousing speech to the other players.

The tweet has sparked debate between rival sets of supporters and has already gained over 2,000 retweets and likes.

One user, @davidsmith_72 simply said: “Not buying it.”

A Celtic supporter, @johnduddy_, suggested that the Rangers fan could buy rival game, Pro Evolution Soccer and replied: “Hahaha pes it is for you.”

@BarryThomson_ said: “It’s a f****** outrage.”

The huddle has been used as part of Celtic’s pre-match ritual since being introduced in 1995 and is even used as the title of various fansites for the club.
