Wes Foderingham - 8

Looked a little shaky in dealing with a couple of earlier efforts, notably a routine effort from Bitton that he almost spilled at the feet of Griffiths. However, he produced the goods when it mattered, first pulling off an incredible finger-tip stop to deny Griffiths from a free-kick and then repelling Brown’s penalty in the shoot-out.

James Tavernier - 8

Not quite his usual influential self in the opposing half as he was well marshalled by Tierney whenever he threatened. However, he answered a lot of critics regarding his defensive capabilities, putting in a number of key blocks and tackles throughout. Also won the phantom throw-in that led to McKay’s stunner. The less said about his penalty the better.

Rob Kiernan - 8

Excellent defensive performance from the centre back who was often found putting in vital blocks and interceptions to halt Celtic attacks. Was forced from the game near the end of normal time through injury.

Danny Wilson - 9

Like Kiernan he stood up tremendously to the challenge of Celtic’s attack. Gets the extra mark over his centre back partner due to his excellent distribution of the ball. He barely wasted a pass and never conceded possession in a dangerous area.

Lee Wallace - 8

Didn’t quite break for him in attacking areas but he continued to charge forward even deep into extra time when he must have been running on fumes. Another who carried out his defensive duties with aplomb.

Dominic Ball - 7

Poor in possession on a couple of occasions, including the moment he fouled Griffiths, thereby earning the yellow card that rules him out of May’s final. Otherwise he had a solid game sweeping up in front of the back four and remained solid when pushed back into the defence following Kiernan’s substitution.

Dean Shiels - 6

Put in a shift down the right hand side, which is an unusual role for the centre midfielder, though he wasn’t able to impact the game much in an attacking sense. His defensive contribution became more evident after he went off as Tierney began to grow into the game.

Jason Holt - 8

Imposed himself on the game throughout. He continually charged up to support the attack and, in a very un-Jason Holt manner, got stuck into numerous slide tackles, the majority of which he won. Drew a foul from Boyata that led to the opening goal.

Andy Halliday - 8

Another whose tackling was superb. He drove Rangers forward time and again in the manner Celtic expected, and didn’t get, from Brown. Put in the cross that led to Rangers’ opener and equipped himself well in the powderkeg atmosphere.

Barrie McKay - 9

The winger showed great confidence to continually run at the Celtic back-line and always seemed to pick the right option. Then he made headlines with an outstanding strike in extra-time that gave Rangers a 2-1 lead.

Kenny Miller - 8

Had an outstanding first half where he not only dropped deep to link with team-mates and keep his side in possession but also got into the penalty area on the end of chances. He converted one, putting Rangers a goal up, and had another effort superbly stopped by Craig Gordon. Disappeared from view in the second half as he tired and subbed before extra-time.

SUBSTITUTES

Nicky Law - 4

Came on for Shiels but failed to do a better job of impacting the attack. He also failed to keep Tierney shackled in quite the same manner, with the Celtic left back skinning him for Rogic’s goal.

Nicky Clark - 5

Came on to provide a pair of fresh legs up top but didn’t have the same impact as Miller.

Gedion Zelalem - 6

The Rangers midfield lost a bit of their edge after Ball was forced back into the centre of defence, with Halliday also dropping deeper. However, he was reliable in possession and tucked away his penalty.
