Raith Rovers 2 - 0 Partick Thistle: Raith pick up first win since August

RAITH picked up their first three points since August with a comfortable win over Partick Thistle, who helped them along with a timid performance.

Thistle enjoyed lots of early ball, but their failure to do anything remotely penetrating in the final third was duly punished just after the half-hour as veteran home defender Laurie Ellis forced home from close range following some horrendous defending.

Spurred on by their opener Rovers began to dominate and doubled their lead ten minutes after the restart courtesy of the prolific John Baird, who easily nodded home from six yards having been perfectly picked out by strike partner Brian Graham.

Defensively Thistle were little better than hopeless as their lack of pace and inability to hold an offside line had them in trouble continuously, with the nimbled-footed Baird and hard-working Graham giving them no end of consternation.

At the other end only speculative hits from long range kept home keeper David McGurn active, but in truth it was Rovers who continued to carry the threat. However for all their dominance they couldn’t add to their tally.
