Iain Davidson gave the hosts a third-minute lead before former Rovers forward Christian Nade brought Accies level with a poacher’s goal. But Kyle Benedictus grabbed a late winner when he headed in Ryan McCord’s free-kick.

The breakthrough goal certainly did not have any aesthetic value but, to the home fans, it was a thing of beauty. After
McCord’s corner pinballed in a congested box, Davidson’s deflected effort bulged the net.

Accies were almost punished with a second goal moments later but Grant Anderson’s
effort was well saved by Michael McGovern.

Hamilton eventually got to grips with the tie and levelled on 66 minutes when Nade diverted Gramoz Kurtaj’s header into the net from Ali Crawford’s corner.

But Raith dug out a winner in the 81st minute as Benedictus bulleted a header into the net from McCord’s free-kick.
