Raith Rovers 0 - 1 Cowdenbeath: Cowdenbeath increase survival hopes
Just four days after the 15-point deduction levied on Dunfermline saw Cowden ascend from the relegation play-off position, three points against Raith Rovers now sees the Blue Brazil in seventh spot, though just three points above the ninth-placed Pars.
Former Mallorca B midfielder Jamie Stevenson’s curling, dipping free-kick from 25 yards settled a hard-fought contest, in which Raith enjoyed the better of the chances.
“We are not just looking at Dunfermline, we are looking at Dumbarton and, with three games left, we still play both of those sides,” said Cowdenbeath player-boss Colin Cameron. “If we continue like we did against Raith I am confident we will survive.”
Conversely, Rovers player-boss Grant Murray was left to rue his side’s profligacy. “We created chances” said Murray. “But it wasn’t enough to win and the performance was not good enough in a derby.”
