The Spiders got off to a sensational start with a goal after 25 seconds when Paul Woods darted forward and rolled the ball to Duggan who shot high into the net.

Indecision in the Blue Brazil’s defence gave Woods an opportunity on 10 minutes but Grant Adam got down low to save.

It looked like the visitors had equalised on 25 minutes when Declan McDaid let fly from 30 yards and his shot fizzed past a diving Willie Muir but the ball flew an inch wide.

Queen’s broke away from a spell of pressure by the visitors seven minutes from the break and came within inches of a second. Duggan’s pass across goal found Joe Bradley but he hit a post, with Liam Brown mis-hitting the rebound.

Duggan almost made an impact within seconds of the second half starting as he shot from 20 yards, however Grant Adam leapt to his left to turn the ball away.

Cowdenbeath showed they were still in the game on the hour mark with a low McDaid drive that brought out a fine save from Muir, but six minutes later Duggan found the net again.

Chris Kane sent the striker crashing to the ground and Duggan dusted himself down to net from the resultant penalty.

Adam prevented Queen’s going further ahead when he stretched to turn away a 25 yard effort from Vinnie Berry, with Dean Brett going close to pulling a goal back with a curling effort that landed on the top of the net.
