QPR’s momentum continues to build

QPR boosted their chances of Premier League survival after coming from behind to beat Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland, writes David Findlay.

The Black Cats took the lead when Scotland striker Steven Fletcher turned in an Adam Johnson cross, but Rangers levelled just ten minutes later thanks to £8 million January signing Loic Rémy. Andros Townsend struck from more than 20 yards out before Jermaine Jenas fired in a late shot to secure a priceless win for Harry Redknapp’s side.

Aston Villa lifted their
survival hopes with a comeback win of their own against Reading. It started badly for Paul Lambert’s men when Nathan Baker turned beyond his own goalkeeper. But Christian Benteke hit back immediately, before Gabriel Agbonlahor won it for Villa.
