Stevie May looks to revive career at Preston

Scotland international Stevie May is confident he can get his career back on track at Preston North End after describing his new club as a “bigger version” of St Johnstone.

The striker signed a three-year deal at Deepdale in a seven-figure switch from Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.

May fell out of favour under new Wednesday head coach 
Carlos Carvalhal at the start of this season and left Hillsborough after only scoring seven goals in 42 appearances for the club. But the 22-year-old reckons Simon Grayson can get the best out of him at fellow Championship outfit Preston.

May said: “It made my decision so much easier that I knew the manager had a lot of faith in me. The club has a real family feel to it, a bigger version of what I felt when I came through at St Johnstone and it is half the battle when you know the manager believes in you.

“I want to play games and I jumped at the chance when Preston North End came in for me.

“It is a big club and one that has tracked me for a long while. There has been a link for about 18 months, so it was nice to come and finally meet everyone and the manager has views I believe in.

“I have spoken to players here I played with last season and they are all in agreement it is the right move for me at this time.”
