Premiership first round review: Motherwell
Best player
The most difficult choice of the all the categories given the way Motherwell have started the season. It may therefore be a surprise that in a team that has lost 19 goals with a -13 goal difference that I would choose keeper Dan Twardzik. In a couple of early games he looked suspect from long range shots, but in truth if it wasn’t for the keeper we could’ve lost even more and the goal difference even worse.
Worst player
This is a tough choice as well, and it may be difficult to pick out any individual as the failings have been spread throughout the team. There have been candidates throughout the team, and almost everyone has had a spell where they are the worst player in the team, therefore I would nominate all of the outfield 10 who have taken the pitch this season.
Biggest surprise

Hide AdThe fall from grace from last season has been alarming, going from second to second last has come as a real surprise. It was assumed that with some consistency in the squad from last season, rather than the normal re-building job for Stuart McCall, we could hit the road running.
Biggest disappointment
So far the biggest disappointment has been the return of Henrick Ojamaa on loan from Legia Warsaw. Everyone remembers the energetic, buzz bomb from only just over a season ago and the player we have seen to date has been a shadow of that player. There have been signs in the last couple of games he is returning to form but it could be too late.
Best team performance
In amongst the all the doom and gloom of the opening 11 League games there has been an out of character (1-1) draw at Celtic Park. The team defended well, were committed in midfield and Sutton looked a threat up front.
Worst game
Plenty to choose from, but I would pick out the 0-4 defeat to Hamilton at home as the worst. The previous two League games looked to have stopped the rot with a win at Ross County and the draw at Celtic Park. We were humiliated by our local rivals who were everything we were last season as they romped to an emphatic win.
Most worrying contract
Despite saying he has been a disappointment to date this season Hentick Ojamaa’s loan comes to an end in January and the club may not be in a position to renew this for the rest of the season.
Manager’s performance
It is hard to criticise Stuart McCall after what he has achieved in the League over the last three seasons. It is also fair to say he has been dealt a bit of a bum hand this season with injury and suspension preventing him having any form of consistency of selection.
