Poyet prepared to go to court over sacking

GUS Poyet believes the dispute over his dismissal by Brighton could go to court. The Uruguayan was sacked for gross misconduct last month, having previously been suspended by the club in the aftermath of the play-off defeat by Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

The former Chelsea midfielder lost an appeal against the decision on 16 July, but does not expect that will be the end of the matter.

Poyet told Sky Sports’ Goals On Sunday programme: “There are several reasons but this will probably go to court because I totally disagree with every allegation and accusation the club has put on me. I will take action because I think it’s important for me. I’m quite confident and relaxed but I hope we will go to court because it is the best way for the truth to come out.”

The 45-year-old led Brighton to the League One title in 2011 and then to the club’s highest league finish for more than 30 years in 2013.

A spokesman for the club was not immediately available for a response to Poyet’s comments.
