Police speak to Aberdeen players training in Hazlehead Park

Footballers given advice about spreading out

Police spoke to a group of Aberdeen players who were training together in a park in the city.

Funso Ojo, the Pittodrie club’s midfielder posted footage of the incident in Hazlehead Park on his Instagram account on Monday.

Aberdeen said the players were training, but that it was in an open space and not part of a session organised by the club who have given their squad a fitness programme to do remotely.

Aberdeen stressed that the players followed guidelines regarding social distancing and that police gave them advice about spreading out further across the park.

Police Scotland confirmed that officers spoke to “a number of footballers” and “provided suitable advice”.

The players were not issued with a formal warning.
