Police are investigating racist abuse of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos online.

The 24-year-old was hosting a live video stream on Instagram this weekend, in which viewers could post messages.

Officers said they had been “made aware” of offensive comments posted during the live stream and were carrying out inquiries.

"We take all allegations of online abuse seriously and will thoroughly investigate such matters," a statement added.

The Colombian national team player signed a three-year contract with the Scottish side in 2017 for a reported £1 million.

He finished his first season at Rangers as top goal scorer for the club, with a total of 18 goals.
