Pittman: My lads would play with broken legs for Broxburn

The team is still on a high after clinching promotion to the Super League and they face one of Junior football’s giants in Linlithgow Rose at Newtown Park, home of Bo’ness, 2.30pm.

Pittman said: “The players have done what we set out to do at the start of the season so it’s enjoyment time on Saturday. Whatever the result we will be at Linlithgow Rose Social club after the game with the Rose players. It’s that sort of day for us. We’ll celebrate win, lose or draw. I’ve got five players getting treatment just now with possibly three ready for tomorrow, but to be honest, these lads would play with broken legs on Saturday – it’s our day.”

It has been something of a transitional season for Linlithgow, with manager Mark Bradley taking over mid-season, but they won the League Cup and beat Bonnyrigg with some style in the semi-final.

Bradley said: “Broxburn are on a high after winning promotion and that makes them dangerous. They beat Kelty in Fife on Wednesday and that’s a tough task for any Super league side. I spoke to Stevie and everyone is getting together after the game for a celebration.

“It’s my first cup final as manger and the pressure is on. If we play as we can then I think we can get a result, but we could be short on players tomorrow. Ruari McLennan is on holiday and Stuart McArthur is away working.

“It would be good to finish off what has been a disappointing season for us.”
