The Loons came into the match at Balmoor with a 2-1 lead over the League one side, but any nerves were put to one side as they went two ahead within the first 20 minutes through goals from Lewis Milne and David Cox.

Peterhead, missing talisman Rory McCallister, were left with an uphill task which became mountainous when Forfar netted twice more after half-time, Danny Denholm and Aiden Malones netting.

Jordon Brown scored a consolation for the home side but Josh Peters rounded off a fine afternoon for Gary Bolan’s men.

Forfar were in the third tier as recently as 2016 and had led League Two for much of the season only to be pipped at the post by Angus rivals Arbroath.
