Pearson says it’s ‘make or break’ as Dalkeith host Tranent

It’s top versus second in the South Division tomorrow as Dalkeith host Tranent. The home side sit proudly at the summit, and manager Willie Pearson, who has finally put together a side capable of winning the league, says: “It’s a big few weeks for us and it could be a make-or-break situation.

“We have Tranent at home then Haddington, and those are two big games for us. If we can get something from these games then it would give us a boost in confidence for the rest of the season.

“We have signed a new striker from Lothian Thistle, Kenny Fisher, but, on the downside, we have lost Thomas Watters to an illness similar to that suffered by Scotland’s Darren Fletcher, so he’ll be out for a while.”

Points are vital for both sides with Tranent pushing hard for promotion again. They have come close in the past three seasons, but faltered each time as the season drew to a close.

Boss Tom Shields won’t be at the game tomorrow, explaining: “Unfortunately, I’m in Manchester, but the players are all up for the game. They feel they let themselves down in the home defeat to Edinburgh and want to bounce back.”
