Out-of-contract Nacho Novo doesn't want to leave

NACHO Novo admits leaving Rangers would be a huge wrench if his spell at Ibrox comes to an end this summer.

The Spanish striker is out of contract at the end of the season

and does not yet know if he has a future with the Glasgow giants.

Novo has spent almost six years at Rangers and has revealed how

tough he would find it to part company with the club.

"If I need to move, it will be hard," he said. "This club is like my

family. I've made very good friends here and the fans are just

the best fans in the world.

"They have been terrific with me through the good and bad

times. I would miss coming through the tunnel and on to the

park and seeing that stadium full of fans. That's one of the biggest

things I would miss."

Novo says he is happy for his representative to deal with any

contract issues while he focuses on helping Rangers retain the SPL

title.

"At the moment, there is nothing happening," he added.

"My agent will do everything, I don't want to know what is happening.

I just want to concentrate on playing and trying to win the

league. My job is to play, go on the park and perform. His job is to

do the other side, the contracts and whatever. When something

happens, he will let me know."

Meanwhile, Rangers manager Walter Smith has no fears about

Danny Wilson being affected by speculation linking him with a

move to the Barclays Premier League in England.

The Scottish champions have confirmed Liverpool have inquired

about the 18-year-old defender, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

But, having watched the talented teenager hold his own in

games such as the Champions League and the Old Firm derby,

Smith is not concerned about his ability to handle media interest

about his future.

"I don't think he will be affected by it at all and he doesn't seem to

be affected by it," Smith said.

"He's a level-headed boy and that's been seen in the temperament

he has shown in coming in and playing at 18 and playing in the manner in which he has done.

"He has played over 20 games for us this season, which is terrific

from his point of view.

"I don't think this contractual talk or transfer talk will affecthim

at all. I don't see that it will be a problem.

"He has succeeded in doing what hewants to do,whichis playing

in the first team and he is getting a game week in, week out.

"He doesn't seemto be affected by anything other than the challenge

of coming up against different opposition every week."

Rangers have been holding talks with his agent for some time

and had been hopeful that Wilson would follow the lead of fellow

youngster John Fleck by signing a new contract.

Those discussions have yet to reach a conclusion but Smith has not given up hope that the centre-half – whose contract expires at the end of next season – will opt to remain at Ibrox.

He said: "Weare in negotiations with his agent to try and get him to

stay and we have been for a little bit of time. Hopefully it will get

settled quite soon.

"Liverpool have expressed an interest in him but we said that we

don't want to let the player go so he hasn't got an offer yet."
