Ormiston 0-2 Kelso United

A STUNNING Chris Black strike helped Kelso secure all three points on a bitterly cold day at Ormiston.

In the 26th minute Damien McNulty made a crucial tackle on the six yard line to deny Ormiston’s Auld putting away a dead-cert opportunity.

At the other end Kelso nearly made a breakthrough in the 35th minute, but Simmonds produced a fine reflex save to tip Derek Burnett’s strike over.

The first half was to be subject to five minutes of injury time, as Stewart Fisher had required lengthy treatment for a knee injury earlier in the half. It was in the fourth minute of this additional time that Kelso snatched the lead. Black collected a throw in from the left wing and fired an unanswerable curling strike from 25 yards through the crowded box and into the net.

Kelso made safe their lead in the 65th minute. Lauder’s placed strike beat the oncoming goalkeeper Simmonds and Burnett was on hand to help the ball across the line from two yards out.
