Optimism for Fletcher

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is hopeful that last season’s top scorer Steven Fletcher will be able to resume training next week.

The Scotland international has missed Wolves’ last two games with a calf problem.

But the news was encouraging after Fletcher had an injection in the troublesome area following a visit to the specialist.

McCarthy said: “Hopefully Fletch will be able to train next week. He had an injection which has been successful.”

Fletcher scored 12 times in helping Wolves avoid Barclays Premier League relegation in his first season at the club.
