Nominations thrill Peter Houston

PETER HOUSTON said everyone at Dundee United should be proud of the fact they have three players nominated for the PFA awards.

Top scorer Jon Daly has been put forward by his peers for the Player of the Year accolade, while Scotland U21 stars Johnny Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven are in the Young Player category.

United are the most represented club this season and, while Houston is delighted for the individuals involved, he also believes it reflects well on the club as a whole.

“It is a huge achievement for the lads to get nominated. Whether they win it or not it’s a great thing to be recognised by the guys who you have been playing against all season,” he said.

“It’s brilliant for the lads involved and also for Dundee United.

“I spoke to them about it earlier in the week and told them they should be proud.”
