No Wolves January exit for Leigh Griffiths

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a very respectable season for the Molineux side, netting 13 goals during their promotion push. However, he has not started a match since being taken off at half-time during Wolves’ 2-0 home defeat against MK Dons on 14 December and being subsequently criticised by Jackett for a lack of effort.

There have been reports suggesting Griffiths – the 2012-13 PFA Scotland young player of the year after a stunning campaign at Hibs, for whom he scored nearly 40 goals in less than two seasons – does not appear to have settled in the Midlands and is keen to return to Scotland.

However, Jackett says the striker is not for sale. “There’s no way that is the case,” he said, when asked whether Griffiths could be set to move on. We are looking to improve our striking department if we can. Letting Leigh Griffiths go would not improve it.

“He’s very much part of my plans and however I decide to use him – whether it’s from the start or after everyone has been running around for an hour – he can be a big contributor for us.”
