Lennon, who managed English side Bolton Wanderers until March this year, has emerged as contender to replace Ronny Deila and regain his position as manager at Parkhead.

He threw his hat into the ring within an hour of the announcement that Deila would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Lennon was reportedly targeted with abuse by rival fans when he was spotted at Noel Gallagher’s concert at The Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday night.

Fellow concert goer Benny Gallacher shared a picture on Facebook which allegedly shows the Northern Irishman holding his hands around his ears from a box inside the venue, while also claiming that pints and verbal abuse were thrown in his direction.
