Myatt has Tuesday win on his mind

Preston ATHLETIC manager Stevie Myatt has intimated that nothing less than promotion back into the Central Taxis Premier Division will satisfy him this season and he goes into tonight’s East Lothian derby against Ormiston at the Pennypit with victory on his mind.

“We are turning out to be a Tuesday night team,” he said. “We have lost two Saturday games but on Tuesdays we have more players available and recorded a good win against Heriot-Watt University last week.

“It is vital that we take as many points as possible in these early fixtures and although I have not seen Ormiston, they were unlucky not to beat Craigroyston who are one of the favourites for promotion this season.”

Myatt, whose team was beaten 5-3 on penalties by Peebles Rovers at the weekend, had coach Iain Houston playing because of a lack of numbers but tonight Euan Campbell and Kevin Freedman are back from a stag weekend while Gary Kennedy and John Kerr are both available after missing out on Saturday.

Elsewhere tonight, Craigroyston, beaten 1-0 in extra-time by Easthouses Lily at the weekend, travel to face the students of Heriot-Watt University in a crucial game. “I was disappointed with our result but not with our performance against Easthouses,” said the Craigroyston manager, George Bowmaker. “Each game we play we are becoming more of a team.

“It’s time for us to get our first league win tonight although games against Heriot-Watt University are always tough and their students do plenty of running about. Their coach, Michael Renwick, is someone who I have always admired but if we take our ‘A’ game into this match then we can win.”

Bowmaker will be without injured midfield player Jamie Stewart and goalkeeper Stuart Addison although defender Michael Stewart is back in contention.

Heriot-Watt University recorded a 2-1 win away to Berwick Rangers Reserves at the weekend with striker Banji Koya making a major impact and he will be their danger man tonight although Renwick still has some players missing.
