Musselburgh gave themselves a chance of avoiding relegation with this emphatic victory.

Bo’ness had been reduced to ten men early on when Shields was red carded for a last-man challenge and Musselburgh made the breakthrough in 37 minutes. Shand turned defence into attack and despite Bo’ness keeper Christie blocking a King shot, the ball rebounded off Gibb before going over the line.

Musselburgh extended their just before the break lead. Tansey picked out Renton and the big forward cut inside before sliding a shot past Christie.

Two minutes after the break and Currie found Tansey who swept a low shot into the net from just inside the box.

Musselburgh Manager David McGlynn said: “We got a bit of luck but the desire from the players has been immense.”
