Davidson, 26, who was out of contract this weekend, continues his rehabilitation following the torn patella tendon injury which ended his season in January in a match against Hearts.

Manager Tommy Wright told the club’s official website: “We’re glad Muzz is making good progress and the club had told him that we would give him the time to get fit.

“I’m delighted he’s agreed the short-term deal and both parties will revisit it in August.

“I know and Saints supporters know what an asset a fit Murray Davidson can be to the team.”
