Motherwell manager wins sending off appeal

MOTHERWELL manager Stuart McCall has won his challenge against a proposed one-match ban following his dismissal against Aberdeen last month.

McCall rejected the Scottish Football Association compliance officer’s offer of a ban and was successful in a hearing with a panel at Hampden yesterday.

The club confirmed: “Stuart McCall has been found not guilty at the hearing this morning and will not face any suspension resulting from the Aberdeen game on 11 March.”

McCall was alleged to have breached rule 203, which includes offences such as the repeated use of abusive and insulting language and adopting an aggressive attitude towards match officials or calling their integrity into question.

The Fir Park boss was “amazed and angered” after being sent to the stand by referee Craig Thomson during his side’s 2-1 William Hill Scottish Cup defeat after commenting on the award of a corner to Aberdeen that led to Rory Fallon’s early opener.
