Mixu Paatelainen fumed at Hibs snubbing Fraser Forster

Paatelainen had been watching a youth game between Newcastle and Manchester United, and pointed out Forster, then playing for the Magpies to ex-Hibs scout Ian Brown.

But unbeknownst to Mixu, Forster had already had a two-week trial at Hibs only to be told he would never make it as a goalkeeper because he was ‘technically untrained’.

Brown revealed, in an interview with the Daily Mail, that Paatelainen then ‘let out about five expletives’ as he lamented the missed opportunity by his club.

Tonight Forster will start for England in a friendly match against Holland as fellow goalkeepers Joe Hart and Jack Butland are both unavailable.
