Missed penalty costs Uni

The students went ahead early on when the Strollers defence didn’t clear their lines and Cyrus Mossavi broke into the box and squared to James Craigen who had the simple task of slotting the ball into the net.

Strollers’ Scott Gormley then made a terrific run and was played in by Danny Rennie but his powerful shot was saved. Rennie then got on the end of slack back-pass and he squared to Gormley in the box who, from close range, hit the woodwork.

Uni were awarded a penalty when Mossavi went down in the box but Craigen put the ball well over the bar. Just before the interval Strollers levelled when a cross was only cleared as far as the edge of the box and landed at the feet of Gerry Burgess who fired in a low shot.

Strollers had a chance early on in the second half when Paul Lynch was played in at the back door but his effort went wide of the target.
