Miller doubtful for Euro ties

Kenny Miller is a doubt for Scotland’s Euro 2012 qualifying double header after sustaining a groin injury while playing for Cardiff City in their 2-1 defeat by Hull City yesterday.

The striker lasted just nine minutes of the match at the KC Stadium before having to go off. His hopes of featuring against Liechtenstein on Saturday and Spain three days later would now appear remote.

It is a savage blow for national coach Craig Levein who favours Miller in the lone striking role. It is expected that he will be examined by the Scotland team doctor today before a final decision is made.

Miller, 31, is the leading scorer in the squad with 15 international goals. His last came against the Czech Republic in the 2-2 draw at Hampden last month. He missed the next game against Lithuania through suspension.

Levein has three other strikers in his squad, Steven Naismith David Goodwillie, and Craig Mackail-Smith. The latter two are very inexperienced with just two caps each and Levein may look to call-up reinforcements for a game in Vaduz Scotland simply must win.
