The 30-year-old is accused of assaulting two men at the Corinthian nightclub in Glasgow, hours after he was crowned SPL Player of the Year on 6 May 2013.

He is alleged to have attempted to punch Peter Simpson on the head and body and seized him by the neck and kicked him. Higdon, from Liverpool, is also accused of attempting to punch Paul Faulds on the head. Both men were working at the nightclub.

Higdon also faces a charge of “behaving in a threatening or abusive manner” by shouting, swearing and uttering threats.

Glasgow’s Justice of the Peace Court heard he would not be available for trial next month and set a new date for June.
