McQueenie is feeling rosy now at Lily

“It could have been double the score!” said McQueenie.

“We played really well and it would have been more had the Burntisland goalkeeper not made some good saves and we missed some gilt-edged chances. We scored some fabulous goals and it was a great way to start the New Year because we have had a nightmare first half of the season. It’s only three months ago that we were beaten 10-2 by Berwick Rangers Reserves so I know exactly how Burntisland felt at the end of the game.”

Easthouses moved off the bottom of the First Division with that win and McQueenie has not given up on the slim chance his team has of gaining promotion although they are 30 points behind leaders Coldstream and 18 behind second-placed Berwick. “We do have games in hand so a few wins would move us quickly up the table,” added McQueenie. “We will never say never as far as promotion is concerned.

“We start tomorrow with an away game against Craigroyston on what is undoubtedly the best surface in the entire East of Scotland League. We beat them 4-1 in our League Cup qualifying game earlier in the season although it was Craigroyston who qualified from our section. Games between the two teams are always good games and this will be a difficult game in which both sides will be going all out for three points.”

Graham Young scored five goals against Burntisland to equal the highest number of goals in one game by an Easthouses player which is now jointly held with Scott Borthwick, who is on the treatment table at the moment. Neil Ferry is injured although Ryan  McQueenie and Sean Loughlin have both completed their suspensions.

Craigroyston have both Paul Lynch and Gerry Burgess back in their squad along with new signing, Scott Lucas.
