McManus agrees deal to join Ayr

Ayr United have added striker Tam McManus to their squad ahead of tonight’s game against Partick Thistle with the former Hibs, Dundee, Falkirk and Dunfermline front man agreeing a short-term deal at Somerset Park.

Manager Brian Reid said: “Tam has been in training with us for a while and this gives him a chance to get some game time in before January and for us to have an experienced striker added to our ranks. We have good strikers at this club already but signing Tam was a bit of a no-brainer as he is not taking a great wage to play here and I am hoping he can chip in with some goals.”

Defender Martyn Campbell is Ayr’s only injury absentee as they look to end a run of four home games without a win. “We have had a few disappointments at home recently and this would be a good game to put that right in,” added Reid.

Partick are sweating on the fitness of goalkeeper Scott Fox and midfielder David Rowson. On-loan Rangers youngster Kyle Hutton returns to the squad after missing out on Scottish Cup duty at the Ibrox club’s request but Iain Flannigan and Ryan MacBeth are both absent, while Willie Kinniburgh remains out long term.
