McInally takes the reins at Peterhead

Former Morton and East Stirlingshire manager Jim McInally beat off competition from former St Mirren No 2 Iain Jenkins, ex-Arbroath manager John McGlashan and former player Bobby Mann to land the job as manager of Third Division side Peterhead.

The former Scottish internationalist replaces John Sheran, who was dismissed a fortnight ago after securing only one league win so far this season.

Blue Toon chairman Rodger Morrison said: “Jim took Morton to the Second Division title and also managed East Stirlingshire from the bottom of the Third Division to the play-offs two years on the trot before leaving in the summer.

McInally, 47, enjoyed a successful playing career with Dundee United in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
